Frequently Asked Questions
Please take a moment to review the Frequently Asked Questions below:
What services do you provide?
We are a full-scale design studio, specializing in kitchen and bath design while also offering a wide range of material selections including countertops, tile, hardware, and more. We are able to assist with as much or as little of your project as you would like, but thrive upon all the details it takes to bring a project together!
How much does it cost to work with Kitchens Etc?
Due to the nature of this industry, this varies per project. However, here is a general guideline of the costs included in our process:
The initial meeting is an in-studio design consultation which is free of charge. If both parties feel comfortable to move into the next phase of our process, the next meeting would be an on-site measure. We request a $300 design retainer prior to this meeting. Most other cabinetry-related meetings are complimentary, with the exception of any pre-planned design meetings which are charged at $150/hr.
I'm planning to order cabinets, how long will they take to arrive?
This is one of the longer parts of the process, but still is fairly quick considering the cabinets are semi-custom, and made-to-order. The typical lead time is about 5-6 weeks with delivery adding an additional week. However, this is subject to change based on the factory's current order queue and availability of materials.
We also offer a cabinetry line that functions on a 1-2 week turnaround. This line is perfect for projects with tight timelines and budgets, while providing a quality pre-made cabinet that is sure to impress.
Are countertops included in the price of the cabinets?
Interestingly enough, we do get this question a lot. However, no, the cabinet purchase is just that -- cabinets. Anything additional (countertops, backsplash, cabinet hardware, installation) will need to be purchased separately. We are happy to provide design input, as well as quotes for those items as well!
How much will this project cost me?
This really varies per client. Each cabinet door style has a specified price factor that greatly determines the cost. Along with that, the price is dependent on the finishes you choose, the size of the project, and each feature you "gotta have" in your home. With 30+ years in the industry, we are happy to help steer you towards options that fit within your budget but still provide that "wow" factor we know you're after!
What will the cabinetry design & ordering process look like?
The basic order process includes:
In-Studio Meeting - discussing the scope of the project and how we can help; deciding on a basic design aesthetic that you feel represents your home and family; presenting different cabinet lines (for the projects that include cabinetry); selecting preliminary finishes. IMPORTANT NOTE: if you're working on a new build, please bring blueprints along to help this meeting run smoothly.
On-Site Measure - unless you're building new and we already have your blueprints, we will then come out to the project site to measure so we can design your space! ($300 design retainer requested prior to this appointment).
Presentation - see your project come to life in computer-simulated 3D!
Measure/Confirm - once you approve the design and its features, we'll head back out to your place for one final measure to ensure a great fit.
Sign-Off Meeting - we will send you a DocuSign agreement to review your design and selections prior to collecting a down payment and ordering the cabinets.
Delivery - we get an EAD (Estimated Arrival Date) once the order is placed, and we'll be in contact as that date approaches to schedule delivery. What we do need from you is a cleaned out space, preferably inside during winter months especially, to store the cabinets until install.
What if I'm not ready to purchase right now, but I want an estimate?
That's alright! We just ask that you be up front with us so we can get you some prices as quickly as possible. Many people have done their due diligence (which we encourage you to do!) and found that working with us was the most affordable option for them. We are able to get some of the lowest prices as a dealer and we choose to pass those savings on to you. We also try our hardest to give you our very best service, as our reputation depends solely on word-of-mouth (that means you!).
